1. Bed Size
Chi, or energy, needs room to circulate, and a small bed is not conducive to good chi. That means that a bed should be a queen or a full to allow the chi to move around you while you sleep. In addition to this, a large bed makes room for a partner to join and creates an added sense of togetherness. Small beds can be isolating, while beds that are extra-large, like a California king, can actually make partners move farther apart from each other. Look at the bed in your room, and see how you and your partner feel in it. Even if you don't have a partner, it's important to feel secure in your bed. If you don't, it might be time for a new one.
2. The Position Of The Bed
Where a bed is positioned within a bedroom is just as important as the size. For example, if a bed is pushed up against a wall on one side of the room then it is not properly balanced according to feng shui. To create a sense of feng shui, the bed must be positioned in a space that allows direct eye contact with the door to the bedroom. A feeling of security is established when the person in bed can see who or what is leaving or entering the bedroom. This is known as the 'command center' position. There should also be a balance, in which both sides of the bed are open. It's important that both people in bed can get out of bed on their own sides, and not have to crawl over a partner to do so. Everything is about balance when it comes to feng shui.
3. Goodbye Clutter
A lot of people believe that storing odds and ends underneath their beds is a good idea. Nobody can see the clutter, or what has accumulated there over the years. This is problematic when it comes to feng shui because that clutter creates a sense of chaos. The feeling of chaos can transfer to whoever is sleeping in the bed, which can lead to a night of restless sleep. Thus, if you do plan to store something under the bed it must be well organized and leave enough room to move things around. The best items to store under a bed are linens and towels, as they give off soft energy rather than something like shoes, which can be chaotic.
4. The Shape Of Mirrors
Not all mirrors are built the same. Some mirrors are rectangular, oval, square... and the list goes on. The shape of a mirror and its placement is very important in the land of feng shui. Mirrors that are round or oval create a sense of togetherness, and are ideal for bedrooms. It's important that a mirror is not placed directly in front of a bed, as seeing oneself first thing in the morning or at night can lead to anxiety. To avoid this, the best place for a mirror is in a closet or off to the side of the bed.
