Desks are a necessity for the house, especially now more than ever since so many of us are working from home. If you don't have a desk, you'll definitely be wishing you did. Instead, you can use two matching bookcases (the same size), as the base, and add an old door on top to be the table surface. Et voila! You can even paint the door if you're feeling super creative. 

Decking a bed out with tons of linen can start to put a dent in the bank account, especially when you're looking for luxury products - and why wouldn't you? The comfier the bed, the better! However, getting the perfect knitted blanket is easier than you think. Knitting might sound scary, but it's actually very straightforward. All you need is the basic equipment and a bit of instruction (easy to find), then you can have your own cozy, warm, handmade blanket, knitted together with love. Another plus to this? You now have a beautiful personal heirloom to pass down to future generations.

There is simply no need to buy some big pre-made curtain material. If you're looking for the 'Roman Shade' curtain look, all you will need is some old fabric that you may have already laying around the house. Attach this to two small rods (one at each end), and voila - you have your curtains! The great thing about this is you can choose the fabric, length and all other details, all for a very small cost.

Customizing the bed is actually really important; we deserve to feel like royalty when we're in our bed chambers. So a proper headboard is definitely a great addition to the bedroom in this way. If you don't have one, don't worry, just find an old room divider (which we don't really use anymore), add some upholstery to it, and you will have a striking headboard. Another idea is simply to hang a fabric tapestry just above the bed which will look like a headboard but can be as colorful or intricate as you want it to be.

Making your own dresser is possible if you're going for a more industrial style of interior design in your house. This is a fashionable look nowadays, and if it does work for you then there are also options of crafting other furniture in a similar fashion. All you'll need is some metal pipes, flanges, plywood, and a drill. Perhaps looking up a few YouTube videos wouldn't be a bad idea, but the end result will be customized to the needs of your house and will be a fraction of the price of buying your own furniture.
